6 Basic steps to take for making your skin look young for as long as possible.
I hope this info can be useful for anyone who is unable to visit a qualified skincare therapist, like myslef at my Richmond Beauty Salon, in order to resolve a personal skin issue.😊❤️
Here below are simple tips to follow, in order to extend your youthful and healthy looking face! 👍
1️⃣ Wash with a gentle cleanser.
Cleansers with a high pH like natural soaps are very harsh and can cause irritation and infection, so always choose a cleanser with a low pH. Another ingredient to avoid is sodium lauryl sulfate, as it’s very harsh. Don't buy cleansers with fancy, active ingredients. Cleanser’s aren’t on your skin for very long.
2️⃣ You don't need a toner.
Toners were developed in the past to restore the low pH of the skin after washing with a high-pH cleanser. If you’re using a cleanser with a low pH, then a toner is unnecessary.
3️⃣ Use a physical or chemical exfoliants.
There are two main categories of exfoliants: physical and chemical. It’s best to avoid harsh physical exfoliant, such as sugar scrubs, as it makes your skin sag. Use chemical exfoliants instead, as they are suitable for all ages! The best exfoliants for maturing skin are alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) like glycolic /lactic acid.
4️⃣ Use anti-aging serums.
The best anti-aging ingredients are vitamin A derivatives known as retinoids (retinol) and vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid). They increase collagen in your skin and act as antioxidants.
5️⃣ Moisturize! Moisturize! Moisturize!
One of the big reasons for fine lines is insufficient skin hydration, so moisturize it! Look for glycerine and hyaluronic acid as ingredients.
6️⃣ Always apply sunscreen.
The sun’s UV rays can cause aging by:
- ⚠️breaking down collagen and causing abnormalities in elastin, leading to thinner skin and wrinkles
- ⚠️causing uneven pigmented patches to develop
So use sunscreen, and not just for the beach — use it every day.
