Proper skincare at 40 and over
Approximately at the age of 40 one would notice a process of drastic increase in age-related changes that has began at the age of 25-30:
👉 Skin decreases the ability to regenerate cells;
👉 Sebaceous glands to produce fat, as a result of which the thickness of the dermis and epidermis decreases, the layer of dead dead cells, on the contrary, increases;
👉 Facial wrinkles become deeper;
👉 Nasolabial fold becomes pronounced;
👉 Around the eyes form "crows feet" type of wrinkles;
👉 Dark circles and puffiness appear under the eyes;
👉 Skin of the eyelids gathers into folds; the face loses its tone;
👉 Face skin seems to droop down.
⚠️ 40 and over is the age when one see rapidly increasing results of the ageing process as a result of continuous exposure to sun and UV radiation, the use of low-quality cosmetics, bad habits, dancing until the morning, excessive eating and other unhealthy habits.
However, the visible signs of aging are not a reason to give up your fight against time. Regular skin care at 40+ is quite capable of compensating or at least slowing down most age-related changes.
How to clean and wash.
One of the main rules of care for mature skin is to avoid the influence of factors that can disrupt the lipid layer and reduce cell regeneration. Avoid washing with tap water (as it contains chlorine), soap, exposure to UV rays, scrubs with large abrasive particles, alcohol-containing products, unbalanced diets, stress, unfavorable ecology, low-quality cosmetics.
Wash your face with herbal infusion of chamomile, lime, sage, or at least boiled water in the morning and evening, using cosmetic foam instead of soap, clean your skin with a special toner.
How to choose a suitable cream?
Choose a day cream that moisturizes, and a night cream that nourishes, for the same age line, preferably from the same manufacturer.
When applying your skincare, try to follow the massage lines with the patting movements, and not rubbing.
Carefully read skincare product content when buying it. When taking care for a mature and ageing skin, choose cosmetics and skincare products with antioxidants (vitamin E, retinol, selenium), which are necessary to neutralize the destructive effects of free radicals.
Approximately 10% of the cream should be fruit acids (citric, glycolic, grape, wine, apple). They help to exfoliate toughened skin layer.
Extremely useful ingredient in your cream is hyaluronic acid, which helps the skin retain moisture. Herbs extracts (chamomile, aloe vera, calendula, green tea, cucumber) have anti-inflammatory and soothing effects.
All skincare products targeted at taking care for ageing skin, available on the market, contain artificial substances, refined petroleum products. So it is important to balance ingredients inside, so the natural ingredients should prevail over artificial ones in proportion. If the list of cream ingredients is long and is composed of substances of clearly artificial origin (mineral oil, propylene glycol, methylparaben, etc.) and only in the end of this list are mentioned several natural extracts or oils, it is better not to purchase this product.
Night care creams 🌘
For a night care for your face you can do a self-made nourishing cream, the components of which could be partially found in your own kitchen, garden and the rest bought in the pharmacy. They are made on the basis of vegetable oils or beeswax with the addition of fat-soluble vitamins, essential oils, and vegetable ingredients.
Day care creams 🌞
Day care cream, aimed for ageing skin, are not to be made at home, as these require sunscreen ingredients. Natural UV filters are pumpkin, rosehip, jojoba, walnut and many others, but they protect the skin less effectively than synthetic ones.
Facial skin care at 40+ does not require tiresome procedures, it is enough to devote daily 10-15 minutes in the morning and evening on weekdays, a little more - on weekends. Naturally, a visit a cosmetologist or skincare therapist is a great plus, who can provide powerful professional facials with microneedling, microdermabrasion, mesotherapy facials, an overall anti-ageing facial and much more. The main thing here is consistency and regularity, not intensity.
